Discharge
Discharge is very important to make sure that your transition from Oxford Day Surgery to home runs as smoothly as possible. Our doctors and nursing staff are happy to answer any questions during your stay with us concerning discharge or your follow up wound care.
You will be given clear wound care guidelines to take home with you, appropriate dates for your follow up appointment and contact details for your appropriate wound care nurses.
When leaving the hospital please make sure that you have all your personal effects, medications, and follow up instructions.
Please make sure you have a designated person to collect and stay with you if appropriate, for example procedures on the lower legs, or if you normally live alone, please seek advice if unsure.
If you have had sedation you will also need to organise someone to collect you after your surgery and stay with you overnight.
Please do not drive a motor vehicle, operate machinery or domestic appliances or drink alcohol for at least 24 hours post sedation.
If you have any queries or concerns please feel free to contact our friendly staff who will endeavour to answer any questions you may have.
