They also pass on this valuable expertise, with training of dermatologists and nurses performed in Oxford Day Surgery and Dermatology’s own facility. 

Meet the team

Clinical Associate Professor Carl Vinciullo and Dr Harvey Smith head our superb medical team of skin specialists in Perth and the South West.

Clinical A​ssociate Professor Carl Vinciullo

A University of WA medical graduate, A/Prof. Vinciullo became a Fellow of The Australasian College of Dermatologists (F.A.C.D.) in 1986 and completed a Fellowship in Mohs surgery at the New York University Medical Centre in New York from 1986-1988. He has since been in private practice as a dermatologist performing Mohs surgery. He is as well a Visiting Consultant Dermatologist at Royal Perth Hospital and is an adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the University of WA where he teaches dermatology trainees, junior hospital doctors and medical students.

He is an active member of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, having served on a wide range of committees and Boards in the past including treasurer and Chairman of the College’s audit committee and a Director of the Board of management. Currently he is managing Director of the Australasian College of Dermatologists Educational Enterprises.

His professional Fellowships include the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS). A/Prof. Vinciullo is a regular invited speaker at local national and international meetings.

Dr. Harvey Smith

A graduate of the University of London, Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. In 2001 he completed a Fellowship in Mohs Surgery in Perth and has become a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery.  He has practiced in the UK from 2002-09 specialising in Mohs surgery and facial skin cancer surgery before returning to Perth in 2009. He has an MD from the University of London based on research achievements.  Currently  he is Chairman of the Mohs surgery committee of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

Dr. Yee Tai


A graduate from the University of Melbourne, Dr. Tai did his dermatology training in Melbourne and the UK. He became a Fellow of The Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2010 after being awarded the college's Travelling Scholarship. He has completed his Fellowship in Mohs surgery at Oxford Day Surgery in June 2011 where he continues to work with particular interest in skin cancer surgery.

Dr. Kate Borchard | BMedSc(Hons) MBBS(Hons) FACD


A graduate of the University of Tasmania and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, Dr. Borchard trained in Melbourne, Victoria. In the 2010 Australasian College of Dermatologists Fellowship Examinations she received the Travelling Fellowship, awarded to the most merit worthy candidate. She completed her Fellowship in Mohs Surgery at Oxford Day Surgery in June 2012, and is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery. In addition to skin cancer surgery, she has interests in general medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Paul Cherian | MBBS(Hons), FACD
Fellow of the ACD

Dr. Cherian is a graduate of the University of Western Australia. A recipient of the Australasian College of Dermatology Founders' Medal in Procedural Dermatology, his interests lie in Procedural and General Dermatology. He completed his Fellowship in Mohs surgery at Oxford Day Surgery in June 2013 and continues to provide a full dermatology and skin cancer surgery service with us.
